When you think of ties in designer menswear that come with big names, it’s common to think that they also come at a price of big bucks. And while you’ll pay a bit more for Hugo Boss and Ralph Lauren ties, they’re still nothing compared to the world’s most expensive tie.

That tie was made in India, by a designer named Satya Paul. Paul was commissioned by the Suashish Diamond group in 2003 to create a tie that was to be worn at the Cultural Ties in Mumbai. This is the biggest fashion event of the year in India, and so a huge honor for Paul to be chosen as designer of this exquisite tie. Even more honorable, at the fashion show the tie would be worn by Salman Khan, one of the biggest actors in Bollywood.

So What Did Paul Create?

A stunning purple tie made of pure silk, purple in color, and decorated with a pattern comprised of 150 grams of gold. Adding a little splash to this already elaborate tie were 271 diamonds, weighing a total of 77 carats. So how expensive is the most expensive tie ever created? 1 crore, equal to 100 lakhs, or $250,000 U.S. dollars.

At Harleys we may not carry the world’s most expensive tie. But we do have Zegna, Dolce Punta, and many others. Come see us today to check out our entire stock.
