How to Wear Men's Shorts with Style in Shorewood
Just like the short-sleeved shirt, mens shorts were also slow to take off as a fashion choice. While men traditionally wore trousers up until about the 50s or 60s, shorts were largely thought of as clothing meant for boys. Today though shorts can take up the majority of your summer wardrobe and can make for some of the best mens sportswear pieces. You just have to know how to wear them.
Start with knowing what length of short is going to look best on you. If you’re very tall with very long legs, you may choose to wear longer shorts that come below the knee to help provide balance with the rest of your outfit. Shorts should never be mid-thigh or higher, unless they’re athletic shorts and you’re actually participating in some kind of sport or competition. Typically shorts that sit two or three inches above the knee are the most preferred among men.
In addition to making sure your pants aren’t too long or short, also make sure that they’re not too baggy. Some shorts can fit you in the waist perfectly, but still look loose and sloppy throughout the rest of the leg. Ensure that there’s a slim and narrow fit all the way down the length of the leg and you’ll get the fit you’re looking for.
It’s not hard to see how such a simple wardrobe staple such as a pair of shorts can intimidate so many men. Wear them the wrong way and well, they’ll just look wrong. But come see us at Harleys, the experienced mens apparel store, and your shorts will always look sharp!
