Harleys Has a New Owner!
As you may have heard, Tim Ryan, our fearless leader of 30 years, is retiring. He’s swapping suits for shorts and sales quotas for lake days, and we couldn’t be happier for him.
Tim began working at Harleys in 1969 while he was a student at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. He took over as owner in 1987. Under Tim’s leadership, Harleys became the go-to spot in the greater Milwaukee area for upscale menswear.
His success was the result of his innate sense of style and knowing what men want when shopping for clothes. He always paid close attention to detail and listened attentively to his customers. And when Tim wasn’t focused on the fabric of a client’s suit, he was concentrated on the fabric of the surrounding community. Tim worked hard to build relationships with Harleys customers and to be a member of the Shorewood and Milwaukee communities.
Our new owner, Daniel Wickman, plans to continue with Tim’s formula for success. The store will operate under the Harleys name, and every single staff member you’ve come to know and love is sticking around.
Daniel is also the owner of The Haberdasher Limited in Green Bay, WI, a menswear store that shares the same style and service principals of Harleys. Quality, attention to detail and highly personalized service are core values for both businesses, which makes the acquisition a natural fit.
A few changes will take place, of course, but we’re confident you’ll approve of them. We’re going to add an e-commerce component to the Harleys website so you can shop our store online, as well as some new merchandise at a few different price points. We’ll also be adding more weekend attire for Milwaukee’s more casual dressers.
But other than that, it’ll be business as usual. Customers can expect to receive the same high quality, personalized service they’ve always gotten from Tim and the team, as well as the same brands they love. Simply put, we won’t mess with a good thing.
We look forward to continuing Harleys’ reputation for style and service, and to working with the amazing people in Shorewood and Milwaukee.
Tim will be in the store until June 30 to assist with the transition, so if you’d like to stop in and wish him well, please do. We’d love to see you!
